In January 2015 there will be two entrepreneurship and investment workshops taking place in Europe, delivered by Professor Joe Lassiter from Harvard Business School. These build on a five-year track-record of impact and success with workshops delivered in Edinburgh and Valencia each January since 2011. With sponsorship and support in-kind from the EIT Climate-KIC, Imperial College London, Cambridge Cleantech, Scotland’s 2020 Climate Group, UKTI, The Weinberg Foundation and Heriot Watt University, the two workshops are:
Energy Finance for Growth
6th January 2015: at Imperial College London
Clean Energy Entrepreneurship and Investment
8th & 9th January 2015: at Universitat de València, Spain.
Both workshops are world-class executive programme for entrepreneurs and high-growth new venture leaders, and also corporate leaders, policy makers and investors, who are striving to deliver a low-carbon environmental and economic revolution. The workshops feature Harvard Business School case studies on the Indian startup Husk Power Systems (biomass and solar), TerraPower LLC (next-generation nuclear) and the Canadian carbon capture startup, Carbon Engineering Ltd. The lessons learned and outcomes from the cases are not technology specific, but are about how these companies have faced challenges of growth, fund-raising, team building and the difficult journey of taking concepts from the cool-comfort of the laboratory to the cruel-crucible of the market-place. Lessons will apply equally to startups, high-growth ventures or corporate ventures; regardless of technology or sector.
There are a number of fully funded places and bursaries available at these workshops.
Working in partnership with Heriot Watt University and a charitable foundation, we are delighted to be able to offer bursaries for people to attend Energy Finance for Growth on 6th January 2015 in London. These bursaries are open for anyone to apply, however we particularly encourage women to apply in order to address the gender gap experienced at previous workshops. Applications for these bursaries are invited from those who would not normally be in a position to afford the workshop fee and travel. The bursaries also include a period of post-workshop mentoring. The target audience for these bursaries are early-stage entrepreneurs, innovators and academic staff/students working on applied research and commercial spinouts/startups from universities. Applicants must be UK based. Applications close at 5pm on Wednesday 19th November 2014.
